Nancy Adams, Associate Director and Coordinator for Education and Instruction, Harrell Health Science Library opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Refreshments were provided.
1. Library website redesign
David talked about the library website redesign. In the coming 4-6 weeks there will be a web redesign development committee formed. We will transition to the University Libraries
platform but the existing site will still be in operation as we build the new site. For the present, the library faculty are trying to include more information on the home page, so several existing links will be moved into a drop down box to free up space and avoid cluttering the home page.
2. Harrell HSL Collections – David Brennan
Serials 360 is a University Libraries Discovery Tool which provides access to all library resources. Problems arise due to the fact that Hershey campus is a separate network which results in issues with this tool. Talks are in progress with the vendor and DLT/ITech to resolve this issue. UpToDate can now be accessed remotely. David demonstrated the link at the top of the Harrell Health Sciences Library home page, which can be accessed from any location.
3. Improved interlibrary loan service
Nancy announced that the library staff have made behind the scenes adjustments so first-time users of the ILLiad service, will no longer be required to then complete the new library user form, this information will updated automatically from the ILLiad system, they will of course need their access ID. Regarding the access ID Dr. Waldner wondered if maybe HR at
orientation could make it clear that everyone is entitled to an access ID as well as an epass.
4. Questions/concerns from faculty?
Dr. Cooper reported that he has had a problem with downloading some articles; David responded that he had ascertained that it was an Adobe Reader problem. A workaround can be
