  • Tamara McMahon will be joining us in May as our Knowledge Integration and Emerging Technology Librarian. She is coming to us from the Research Library, Los Alamos National Laboratory
  • Budget – There are concerns regarding the budget for the coming year. Hopefully we will be able to maintain the status quo and use carryover to cover inflations which is running at approximately 10-11%. We do partner heavily with University Park.

5. Questions/Concerns

  • V. Schirm asked about the emerging technology librarian – C. Robinson replied that Tamara will be working on several issues one of which is the networking issues, integrating with both IT here and at UP and also DLT. We would like to see a reduction in issues we have had in the past
  • B. Smith asked if she would be working on the website. – C. Robinson responded that she will be partnering with Joe Meier and the new web designer on the academic side. The ideal is to make the website seamless to users regardless of location
  • J. Richie commented on the physical space and how is it working – C. Robinson answered that the students seem to like the tables and the ability to group study. We would like to improve the lighting in the back of the library, and long term a research/scholars commons
  • Both J. Richie commented on searching and B. Smith asked about putting together a department web page as they have in Pediatrics. N. Adams replied that we have just acquired a software called LibGuide which is a cheap, good product which will be useful and provide mini portals to departmental web pages
  • H. Waldren asked if there was a time frame for a new web site – C. Robinson replied that as soon as Tamara gets here she will be looking at the web site. D. Brennan responded that at the moment we are trying to clean up what we have. Should anyone have problems please contact one of the librarians.
  • N. Adams reported on the marketing plan, the library becoming more visible and available. The liaison program is helpful in keeping departments informed.
  • There is a MAR value study regarding Value of Library and Information Services in Patient Care Study. The survey is targeting Clinicians/physicians and nursing. Flyers and emails will be sent out.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 AM
