The library collections support the four components of the Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health mission: academic (education), clinical, research, and community service.
Because the library’s emphasis is on providing materials at point of need, the collection is primarily in electronic format, with a physical collection of course reserve materials and a small circulating collection of materials that support the curricular and clinical needs of the institution. The collection focuses on relevant biomedical and health disciplines, public health and related disciplines, nursing, research literature, methodological literature, reviews or state-of-the-art reports, and in-depth, authoritative analyses of areas influencing biomedicine and health care.
The library is part of Penn State University Libraries, ranked 9th on the Association of Research Libraries' Investment Index of North American research libraries. Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center members have access to all the resources of the Pennsylvania State University Libraries. Check the Libraries Statistics and Data.
The collection also includes a History of Medicine collection and a small archival collection on the history of the campus.
